The CFO takes care of the functionality and accuracy of the company’s internal and external accounting together with the financial management team and reports to the CEO and/or owners of the company. In addition to this, CFO e.g. plans and optimizes the company’s financial structure and analyses the sufficiency of cash flow for working capital needs and investments.

Risk management is an integral part of financial management. Risks can managed for example through insurance and hedging instruments such as interest rate, foreign exchange and commodity derivatives. The CFO can manage the company’s banking relationships either independently or together with the CEO.
